St. Joseph Peninsula State Park

Do yourself a favor and DON’T skip this park! Explore the gulf side to see the untouched shores that offer a haven of tranquility with its crystal-clear waters and unspoiled white sandy beaches. And the bay side offers a whole new dimension to the adventure! Walking in the shallow bay reveals a treasure trove of wildlife and wonders. It's a journey that promises unforgettable moments! Don't miss the chance to explore both sides—it's an experience that's truly unmatched!

Suggestions of things to do here: Pack a lunch, explore the bay with a snorkel and water shoes, kayak the bay, then walk over to the gulf side to play in the gulf waters and pristine white sand.

Entry fee is $6 up to 8 people in a vehicle.

Cape San Blas Lighthouse

Rebuilt many, many times and Relocated to George Core Park in Port St. Joe in 2014. Climb the 131 steps to the top to see the beautiful Bay and city of Port St. Joe. Check out the history and photographs of this historic lighthouse on the Cape San Blas Lighthouse website.

Climb the lighthouse for $5 per person.

Stump Hole

The Stump Hole is a must-visit spot! Located at the rocks, dividing the north cape from the south cape, start walking south down the beach. The area's name, "stump hole," becomes evident as you encounter the beauty of the stumps and driftwood scattered along the shore.

Along your walk, don't miss the chance to spot the charming "Seashell Palm trees," inviting you to contribute your own shell to the artistic display. Keep an eye out for the substantial concrete footings that mark the spot where the lighthouse once stood- a piece of history etched into the coastline. To learn the history of the lighthouse, check out our blog post, CSB Lighthouse.

Make sure to take the adventure at low tide!

Shelling

The Cape has the best shelling that I have experienced.

Search at low tide and no doubt you will come back

with fun shell treasures!

In addition to the beach in front of A Tier Above, you may be interested in shelling at the State Park, Stump Hole & Crooked Island.

Scalloping

If visiting in Aug or Sept, look into scallop harvesting in St. Joseph Bay! Venture out on your own from the shore or charter a boat, it’s a fun activity for all ages!

Scallop season is August 16th- September 24th!
